A quick look (via a sharable, downloadable handout) at the work and achievements happening within the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities
This "At A Glance" handout about the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities provides a quick overview of the program, examines the impact of membership and looks at the work being pursued by five enrolled communities and one state.
The six "Member Snapshots" are (in order of appearance):
- Tucson, Arizona
- Grayson County, Virginia
- Fishers, Indiana
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Eastport, Maine
- and the State of Maine
According to a survey of 99 member communities that have been enrolled in the network for two or more years and have completed an age-friendly action plan:
- 60% achieved an age-friendly change in policy
- 34% secured a private sector investment or action
- 85% reported “other successes,” categorized as raising awareness of livable issues, increasing collaboration within the community, enacting programs described in the action plan and/or integrating age-friendliness into strategic planning.
